The Belmont Planning Board consists of 7 members who are residents of the community, elected to serve 3-year terms. Three alternate members are appointed by the Planning Board to serve in place of members as necessary. There currently are two vacant Alternate member seats available and the Planning Board encourages anyone interested in land use issues within the community to contact the Land Use Office. No prior experience is necessary. Functions The Board's duties include the following: Master Plan Development Capital Improvements Program Development Site Plans Subdivisions Lot Mergers Boundary Line Adjustments Zoning Ordinances Building Codes Driveway Permits Building & Sign Permit Reviews Administrative Comment on Class VI Road Permits Long-term Planning Analysis Ordinance and Regulation Amendments Growth Management Schedule The Planning Board meets twice monthly on the 2nd and 4th Monday evenings, holding one Meeting for the purpose of public hearings and at least one work session to address other duties. Lakes Region Planning Commission The Town of Belmont is a member of the Lakes Region Planning Commission. The following individuals serve as representatives to the Commission: Jeffrey Marden (2010) John Olmstead (2007)
