Internet Scams

Greetings, I am the Personal Secretary to the former Ambassador of ABC Country and we need your help to transfer $35,000,000,000.00 and all we need from you is.....

ABC Bank wants you to confirm your account number, your PayPal or Ebay account needs to be updated, please update the following information....

You have just won $1,000,000.00 in the Canadian Lottery, all you have to do is....

Have you ever received an email like this?  If you have had email for more than a month, chances are you have received something like this.

The only one that is making money, is the person or group that is sending out these emails to unsuspecting people.  As attractive as some of these offers may be, do you really think that a government, in place or deposed, is going to select John or Jane Doe from Little Town USA to help them recover millions of dollars?

Does your bank actually request personal information over the internet or did you buy a lottery ticket from Canada?

Unfortunately, many dollars are lost in these CRIMINAL acts.

Phising is a form of criminal activity It is characterized by attempts to fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy person or business in an apparently official electronic communication.

Please be a smart and SAFE on the internet.  Remember, if it is too good to be true, you didn't initiate the contact or it seems strange, contact the institution by phone or go to their web site and report this incident.

If you have any questions or problems regarding the internet, please feel free to contact us at the Police Department.
